Having grown up in Singapore many years ago, I was quite familiar with items like this and National brand rice cookers. My mother had one of these 20 years ago until it gave out a few years back. I purchased this item for my husband for Christmas. He couldn't wait to open it and so we've been using it for the past couple of weeks. I wish I'd bought it sooner. My husband was given a Cuisinart stainless steel Grind & Brew several years ago. Fabulous machine. However, a couple of years ago my husband found that despite his being the only coffee drinker (at the time) in the house, that it was 100% MY responsibility to keep the machine clean and ready for morning brewing. I got tired of this and last year he "discovered" the pleasure of Nescafe Classico instant coffee.

bad product
besides the problems report earlier, the product is actually very unreliable . the cord quit working, contacted customer service, no responses. I had to fix it myself, after a while, it quit for good.
nice to have around
So far this product has worked exactly as described, I use only filtered/spring water in it to prevent buildup.
