final review great while it lasted
This is amazing, so many ice makers are available, but most are made by the same company. I checked out the Koldfront which has a different control panel, and a Newair model of same. They are configured differently, but have the same guts. There are only a couple of manufacturers of these and most of them are junk after 6 months. (by reviews of folks that write after 6 months, the new reviews are like mine started off) I keep looking but get the same reviews, great for a while, like mine, then they quit before a year and most have 90 day warranties. (I was lucky and had a year) I'm getting discouraged. Guess I will have to pay around $300 and hope it is better quality. These with the dodad that scoops ice into the bin are all the same and are junk.

MicroLux Ice maker
I purchased this ice maker about 6 months ago. I use it in my 30' 5th wheel trailer for times when I need ice for side trips, for pot luck dinners or just a nice ice cold drink. The unit is on the heavy side and has a drain on the lower side. I put it on the back side of my counter near the sink. It lets you know when the tray is full of ice or if you are low on water by flashing red lights. It makes 10 little mushroom top shape cubes about every 6-10-12 minutes. (depends on setting). I keep some zip lock bags handy to toss the "cubes" in the freezer. The storage compartment is insulated but not refrigerated, so the cubes will melt after a while. I find it handy for filling my portable cooler to keep my food a drinks cool during my side trips. It is small enough to keep in the bottom of the closet when not in use. Some people say it in noisy. I purchased this for my father for Christmas and it was a hit. I did not have any problems with the packaging at all it was very secure in the box when it arrived. It has been turning out ice cubes since December 25th and is still working great! It's been nice to have for the holiday season, cocktail parties and adding ice to coolers. I definitely would recommend this product to friends and family. We absolutely love it :) It will most likely be hard at work for Super Bowl Sunday coming up.
